Research Networks

Our fields host sites for several national and international research networks that through collaborative research help finding patterns in nature and produce resources at wider spatial and temporal scales.
- The Ecological Fractal Network studies diversity at several spatial scales to measure species assemblage homogenisation and structure.
- The Nutrient Network (NutNet) aims to understand the impact of fertilization and alteration of plant-consumer interactions on grassland ecosystems.
- The BugNetwork goal is to assess the impact of invertebrate herbivores and pathogenic fungi on plant communities and ecosystems.
- The Rothamsted Research Suction Trap Network has monitored the abundance of aphids and other insects across the UK since 1968.
- The Bioscan project, by the Wellcome Sanger Institute, studies the genetic diversity of flying insects to create resource for DNA-based biomonitoring in the UK.
- Aquacosm - EU network of mesocosm facilities for research on marine and freshwater ecosystems open for global collaboration.
