Laura is Head of Strategy and Operations at the Graduate School, Imperial College London.  She is responsible for leading the strategic development of the School and all professional, technical and procedural operations.  She also leads a number of College-wide projects related to postgraduate education and practice.

Professor Nick Jennings
Vice Provost (Research and Enterprise)

As Vice-Provost (Research and Enterprise) Nick develops and implements the College’s research and enterprise strategy across all the faculties. The strategic aim is to achieve enduring excellence for the benefit of society.  His role is to enhance the quality, impact, management and delivery of the College’s research and innovation. The main areas of focus include nurturing research talent, developing a world-class innovation ecosystem, fostering multidisciplinary research, establishing effective partnerships and ensuring Imperial’s research informs, influences and impacts. He is responsible for the Research Office and the Enterprise Division

Dr Vahid Shahrezaei
Reader in Biomathematics, Diversity Champion of Faculty of Natural Sciences

Vahid did a BSc and MSc in physics back in Iran, then he moved to Canada for PhD studies and postdoctoral studies. He has been at the Department of Mathematics, Imperial College London since 2008 first as a lecturer then senior lecturer and now reader. He works at the interface of mathematics and biomedical sciences and is also Mathematician in Residence at MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences. He won a president’s media for excellence in postgraduate supervision in 2017. He is a keen advocate of diversity and equality and has been the Diversity Champion for the Faculty of Natural Sciences since 2018.

Professor Bernadette Byrne
Professor of Molecular Membrane Biology, Department of Life Sciences

Bernadette has been an academic at Imperial for almost 20 years. Her research focuses on understanding the structure and mechanism of action of proteins that are located in the highly hydrophobic environment of the membrane that surrounds all the cells in our bodies. She has been involved in postgraduate management and training for many years in diverse roles including Director of Postgraduate Studies and Deputy Director of the Graduate School. She is now Director of the BBSRC DTP2.

David Ham
Senior Lecturer, Department of Mathematics

Dr David Ham is a senior lecturer in computational mathematics in the Department of Mathematics. He is the director of PhD studies in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in the Mathematics of Planet Earth, the mathematics coordinator of the joint maths and computing (JMC) undergraduate programme, and director of the Mary Lister McCammon fellowship. His research centres on the automation of scientific simulation, particularly in the geoscientific applications of ocean, atmosphere, and ice modelling. He was awarded the 2015 Wilkinson Prize for Numerical Software for his development of automated inverse simulation software, and he is an executive editor of the journal Geoscientific Model Development.

Dr Liz Elvidge
Head of the Postdoc and Fellows Development Centre

Liz has worked in Higher Education for the whole of her career and has been at Imperial for over 11 years. She has a PhD in Glacial Geomorphology and postdoc work in magnetostratography. In 2015 she was awarded the Dame Julia Higgins Medal for ‘outstanding support for female early career researchers and academics’. In 2017 she published a book – ‘What every postdoc needs to know’ with two researcher development colleagues. They are currently working on a second edition. Her areas of expertise include fellowships and women in academia.

Caz Ulley
Head of Student Recruitment & Marketing

Caz Ulley is Imperial’s Head of Student Recruitment and Marketing in the Student Recruitment and Outreach Division. Caz’s team is responsible for all aspects of central prospective student/applicant and offer holder communications and marketing, from websites to prospectuses, newsletters to social media. With the move to the virtual world, Caz’s team is also running a busy programme of digital events, including a virtual open week in July.

Andrew Tebutt
Director of Student Recruitment & Outreach

Andrew is Director of Student Recruitment and Outreach (SRO) at Imperial.  He is responsible for managing and advising on the strategic direction of Imperial’s SRO Division, working closely with Faculties, academic Departments and other internal and external collaborators.

Madina Wane

Madina Wane is a final year PhD student in the Department of Life Sciences. She joined Imperial in 2012 for her undergraduate degree and has since stayed for her postgraduate studies. Alongside her studies she has been involved in public engagement events, such as Imperial Festival, and acted as a student representative as a Trustee of Imperial College Union. She has also organized events to support PhD and undergraduate students at Imperial, through funding schemes with the Graduate School and the EDI team. This included a workshop for Black, Asian and minority ethnic undergraduates interested in research careers.

Professor Stephen Curry
Assistant Provost for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Professor Stephen Curry holds joint appointments at the College. In October 2017, he was appointed as Assistant Provost for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion to direct the College’s strategy in these important areas for staff and students. Prof. Curry is also a member of the Department of Life Sciences (DoLS), where he has worked as a structural biologist on a variety of problems related to protein-drug interactions and the replication of RNA viruses such as foot-and-mouth disease virus and human norovirus (the winter vomiting bug).

Yun Xu is Director of the Graduate School and Professor in Biofluid Mechanics. She has also served as College Consul to the Faculty of Engineering and the Business School.  Previously, Yun was Director of Postgraduate Studies for the Department of Chemical Engineering.
