MSc International Health Management
A unique programme designed to prepare students for a management career in the global healthcare sector.
Overview
Our MSc in International Health Management is a one-year, full-time programme that equips you with the essential skills needed to pursue a career in the global healthcare sector.
You will learn from internationally recognised faculty at the forefront of health management research and will gain an overview of the UK health system and its application in a global context. Students of this course are a mix of recent graduates and experienced healthcare professionals from across the world, giving you a truly international perspective.
The programme content reflects the contemporary and relevant management skills necessary for managing in turbulent environments and complex health systems, both in developing and developed countries.
There is a careful balance of teaching and learning, individual and group work. Case study methodology and class-based discussions are used to strengthen the conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills of the participants in real situations. There are also regular seminars by external expert speakers.
Study programme
Before the programme begins you are expected to complete a number of online pre-study modules. These modules are designed to give you a basic knowledge of areas which will be covered throughout the rest of the academic year.
You study a number of taught modules starting in the autumn term and continuing throughout the academic year. Initial, y the modules focus on the basic principles of management and move on to a focus on healthcare.
During the summer term, you will work on a number of projects to expand your practical experience and knowledge of working in the healthcare sector. You will also choose to complete either a Healthcare Report or the Personal Career Journey.

Our graduates have gone on to pursue roles with a range of health-focused organisations, including BUPA, the NHS and the World Health Organisation.

Minimum academic requirement
Our minimum requirement is a 2.1 degree in a relevant discipline such as medicine, health sciences, social sciences, physical sciences, engineering, informatics.
You are also required to have a well-researched career plan with clear short and long term goals.
International qualifications
The academic requirement above is for applicants who hold or who are working towards a UK qualification.
We also accept a wide variety of international qualifications. For guidance see our Country Index though please note that the standards listed here are the minimum for entry to the College.

English language requirement (all applicants)
All candidates must demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency for admission to the College.
For admission to this course, you must achieve the ICBS requirement in the appropriate English language qualification. For details of the minimum grades required to achieve this requirement, please see the English language requirements for Business School applicants.

How to apply
Making an application

All applicants must apply online.

If you are applying to the Business School, you may only be considered for one programme per admissions cycle, with the exception of applicants to our Finance Master's programmes, who may select two programmes.
Application fee
If you are applying for a taught Master’s course, you will need to pay an application fee before submitting your application.
The fee applies per application and not per course:
- £80 for taught Master's applications (excluding MBAs)
- £135 for MBA applications
There is no application fee for MRes courses, Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas or research courses, such as PhDs and EngDs.
If you are facing financial hardship and are unable to pay the application fee, we encourage you to apply for our application fee waiver.
ATAS certificate
An ATAS certificate is not required for overseas students applying for this course.

Postgraduate Master's loan
If you're a UK national, or EU national with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, you may be able to apply for a Postgraduate Master’s Loan from the UK government, if you meet certain criteria.
For 2022-23 entry, the maximum amount is £11,836. The loan is not means-tested and you can choose whether to put it towards your tuition fees or living costs.

British Council scholarships for women in STEM
This course is eligible for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, which Imperial is offering for the 2022/23 academic year. These are for women from Brazil, Mexico or Peru who apply to one of our eligible STEM Master's courses. Find out more about this scholarship.
