Overview
Our MSc in Business Analytics enables recent graduates and early career professionals to understand the content, importance and relevance of big data problems facing businesses and will be familiar with a variety of statistical, operation research and machine learning techniques needed to solve them.
Combining academic rigour and practical relevance, you will learn from experts in our leading faculty how to apply the latest academic thinking and analytical and computing tools to help make business decisions.
There is a careful balance of teaching, hands-on coursework and training in data analysis and business intelligence tools, plus regular seminars by expert external speakers.
Imperial is recognised as a world leader in the study and analysis of data, and the Business School is home to the KPMG Centre for Advanced Business Analytics.
Study programme
Before starting the programme, you complete a number of online pre-study modules, to give you the introductory knowledge of areas that will be covered throughout the programme.
You then develop your analytical skills and business knowledge and study a number of core and elective modules over the three academic terms. The choice of elective modules allows you to customise the programme to meet your personal career ambitions.
Over the summer, you will undertake either a Consulting Project, Work Placement or Individual Research Project, before completing your studies with the Business Analytics Report.
Streams
You have the choice of the two streams listed below.
- MSc Business Analytics (on-campus, full-time) A demanding full-time course taught over one calendar year at our South Kensington campus. You have the option of completing a Capstone Project which includes a substantial group-based consulting project undertaken for a real client.
- MSc Business Analytics (online delivery, part-time) A part-time course with a curriculum modelled on the full-time stream. This 22 months part-time degree is delivered via our unique interactive online learning platform.
Students of both streams will graduate with the award of MSc Business Analytics.
