With discounts on everything from clothes to travel, being a student at the College is one of the most cost-effective times in your life to experience London living.

Like any big city, life in the capital can be expensive. But with sensible budgeting it is possible to enjoy much of what London has to offer. And don’t forget that many of the city’s best attractions are cheap or free, from last-minute theatre tickets to free-entry museums:

Hyde Park
Socialise, exercise and relax in Hyde Park, situated at the end of Exhibition Road.
  • Walking tours
    One of the best ways to see the sights of London is by foot, so what about a free walking tour? There are tours for a variety of different interests – don't forget to wear comfortable shoes!
  • Museums and galleries
    Most of London's museums and art galleries are free, including the Science Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and Natural History Museum – all of which are a five-minute walk from our South Kensington Campus – as well as the Tate Modern, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum and the Hunterian Museum.
    Please note that some museums and galleries are closed due to COVID-19.
  • Parks
    London is comprised of over 40% green parkland, and we have two of the Royal Parks (Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens) right next to our main campus in South Kensington. Why not explore the parks, or relax in one of London's many gardens?

Student discounts

As a student you're eligible to receive discounts such as cheaper Tube fares.

You are rewarded for being a student! Show your student card to get a wide variety of discounts across London and the wider UK, and check out sites such as Student Beans to find the latest deals for students. 

Discounts include:

  • Cheaper travel on London transport links such as the tube, buses and National Rail Service with an 18+ student Oyster card
  • Software (including discounts with Apple and free Microsoft Office 365 software)
  • Clothing (at shops including New Look, Urban Outfitters and Top Shop)
  • Food and drink – both off and on campus
  • Tours and cultural visits
  • Cinema tickets

In addition, Imperial and Imperial College Union have negotiated a number of local discounts for students.
