Temporary immigration restrictions

On 29 June 2017 the US has partially implemented certain travel restriction provisions set out in President Trump’s Executive Order.

A temporary suspension of entry applies, with limited exceptions, only to foreign nationals from Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen, who are

• outside the United States as of 26 June 2017,
• who did not have a valid visa at 17:00 EST on 27 January 2017, and
• who do not have a valid visa as of 20:00 EDT on 29 June 2017.

Dual nationals with British Passports

If you hold dual nationality of one of the above affected nationalities as well as a British passport you may not be subject to the travel restrictions so long as you travel using your British passport.

However, you must apply for a visa to enter the US if you’ve travelled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen on or after 1 March 2011 (with some exceptions) or are also a national of Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria.
