Chevening scholarships are the United Kingdom (UK) government’s scholarship programme; usually awarded to scholars wishing to undertake postgraduate courses at UK universities. Chevening Scholarships at Imperial College are awarded to scholars with a high level of academic excellence and outstanding leadership potential, from across the globe. The scholarship may be a full or partial scholarship and awarded to scholars for any master’s programme.

Applications for 2023-24 Chevening Scholarships is now closed. The deadline for applications is 12:00 GMT (midday UK time) on 1 November 2022.

 

Eligibility

To be considered for The Chevening scholarships you must:

  1. be able to demonstrate that you have achieved a minimum English language requirement. All Imperial College students must have a good command of the English language. Please see the Imperial College London English language requirement webpage for full details of entry requirements.
  2. be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory at the time of applying for the award, and intend to return there at the end of the period of study (please see the Chevening Scholarships: frequently asked questions page‌)
  3. hold a degree that is equivalent to at least an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree. Further information on UK degree equivalency can be found from UK NARIC
  4. have completed at least two years' work experience
  5. return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  6. apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 13 July 2023.

How to apply

Prospective students should apply and submit applications electronically and directly through the Chevening website. It is also strongly recommend that you simultaneously apply to Imperial College indicating which course you wish to study. 

What the scholarship includes

  1. the full or partial cost of (overseas) tuition fees
  2. a full maintenance allowance
  3. some additional costs
  4. a return airfare to your home country.
