On these pages we have put together everything you'll need to prepare prior to your arrival. We look forward to welcoming you to your new home!
Summary
When will I find out what hall I am in?
Offers of accommodation are sent in early September. Once you receive your offer, you will need to accept your place within the timeframe stated.
Travelling to the UK
There are various rules you must be aware of if you are travelling to the UK internationally. If you are travelling internationally, you may be required to quarantine. The UK Government places countries into either red, amber or green list categories based on current risk assessments. You can learn more about these categories on the Government's website. These lists are regularly updated and can be changed at short-notice, so we strongly urge you not to book travel until nearer the start of session.
When can I arrive?
The start of the autumn term is 2-3 October 2021, however there are two arrivals windows for halls of residence - 18-22 September and 2-3 October - depending upon where you are travelling from.
The UK government requires us to ensure that students are able to complete appropriate periods of self-isolation or quarantine without co-habiting with students arriving from countries from other list categories. Due to this, we are only able to accept arrivals to halls strictly within the arrival windows outlined below.
We require all residents to book an arrival slot as part of your e-induction which you will be expected to complete after accepting your offer.
Travelling from | Arrival dates to hall | Further info |
---|---|---|
Red list countries | 2-3 October | You will need to book a 10-day Quarantine Hotel via the Government website and schedule your arrival so you are completing your quarantine on 2-3 October. Learn more about the support we can provide on our Quarantine Hotel webpage. |

Arriving from an amber list country
If you are travelling from an amber list country you will be required to self-isolate for 10 days in your term time address.
You should book an arrival slot to hall between Saturday 18 and Wednesday 22 September to ensure that your self-isolation period is completed before the arrivals weekend. You will not be able to move into your hall after Wednesday 22 September.

New amber list rules if vaccinated in Europe or the USA
The UK Government has announced that if you have been fully vaccinated in the USA or many European countries, you will not need to follow the standard procedures for amber list country arrivals. If this applies to you, you must plan to arrive at your halls of residence during the green list country arrivals period: 2-3 October. Further information on green list arrivals is available in the section below.Arriving from the UK / green list country
If you are travelling from the UK or a green list country and are not required to quarantine or self-isolate, you should book an arrival slot on either Saturday 2 or Sunday 3 October. Due to government requirements to cater for arrivals from amber list countries, it will not be possible to arrive before this date.
