Find out everything you need to know about your accommodation application journey.

How to apply

Our halls are open for Academic Year 2021/22.

Outlined below are the dates in the accommodation application process. Please be advised that it may become necessary to amend these dates or processes.

Your accommodation application journey

Late May 2021 - you will receive an invite to apply (if Imperial is your firm choice)

Applicants who have firmly accepted an academic offer (regardless of whether you have a conditional offer or an unconditional offer) from the College will receive an email invite to apply for accommodation using our online system - Accommodation Hub (AccHub). You can select 5 accommodation preferences specifying your preferred hall, room type and price.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE 5 PREFERENCES:
  • Please be advised that your five preferences are EQUALLY ranked, and cannot be distinguished in order of highest to lowest preference
  • Please note that you can only choose one single room and one twin room per hall
  • Once the form is submitted, you cannot make any changes to it. Please ensure you are happy with your preferences before submitting the application
  • Although we can guarantee you a bed space we are unfortunately not able to guarantee one of your preferences. We do, however, endeavour to try and match you with one of your five preferences as best we can

30 July 2021 - last date to apply to be guaranteed a place in our accommodation

You must apply no later than 30 July 2021 to be guaranteed a place* in our accommodation. Once you've applied, you will get an acknowledgement email to confirm that your application has been received.

* As an undergraduate student you are guaranteed a place in Imperial College London accommodation for your first year of study if you meet the terms and conditions of the Accommodation guarantee.

2 August 2021 - you will receive an invite to apply (if Imperial is your insurance choice)

If you have made Imperial your Insurance choice, you will be emailed the ‘Invitation to Apply for Accommodation' from Monday 2 August 2021. Unfortunately you are not guaranteed accommodation, however if we can't offer you a place in one of our halls of residence, we'll provide you with advice and guidance on how to find accommodation in the private sector.

Early September 2021 - receiving your accommodation offer

All applications will be processed and rooms allocated.

A-level results day is Tuesday 10 August 2021. Those who have an unconditional academic offer will receive an accommodation offer in early September.

When you receive your accommodation offer, you'll also receive your 'Licence to Occupy' which states your hall and room type. Please note that a room number will not be included in the Licence as this will be provided on your first invoice.

September 2021 - accepting your offer and complete compulsory online induction

Candidates who have secured a place in university accommodation will be notified of their offer by email. Offers must be accepted by the date specified in the email.

What happens if I don't want to accept the accommodation I have been offered?"

If you do not wish to accept the offer, you will be able to reject this online. You will be asked to provide a reason why. This will enable us to reallocate the room. We regret that this is the only offer we can make and if you reject it, it is unlikely that we will be able to make an alternative offer.

Accommodation e-induction

You will receive an email inviting you to complete an e-induction before you arrive. The induction contains all the useful information about your halls, move in arrangements, what to pack and much more.

2 October 2021 - moving in

Our main moving in day is 2 October – prepare for a warm welcome to your new home for the next year!

However, it is likely we will be able to offer early arrival slots for those travelling from overseas and are required to self-isolate on arrival. More information about arrival to halls will be shared closer to the arrival date.
