Your feedback about your experience at Imperial is really important to the institution, as it helps us improve and enhance the experience students have here. There are many ways in which you can give feedback both formal and informal. For example:

• Give feedback to your supervisor, your academic mentor, postgraduate tutors within your department and similarly Departmental Postgraduate Student or Education Managers.
• Complete surveys such as the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES).
• Participate in student surveys at the national level.
• Become involved in the Graduate Student Union. Give feedback to the GSU Committee members or consider applying to become a Committee member yourself.
• Consider being a Postgraduate Representative for your department. This way you can give your own feedback and that of your fellow students through departmental Postgraduate Research Student Committees. This can be a two-way process whereby the Director of Postgraduate Studies may ask the Postgraduate Research Student Representatives for their feedback on any new initiatives, course changes, and so on.
• Engage with your department through departmental talks and seminars and through social activities and get-togethers. This is another opportunity for students to give feedback via members of departmental staff (rather than just those on Committees).
• You can also discuss your opinions of your time at Imperial on social media. Find a Facebook group or Twitter community where you can talk about your experiences and share feedback.

Does my feedback make a difference?

At Imperial we take feedback from students very seriously. By sharing your opinions and thoughts, both positive and negative, you’ll be helping both current and future generations of students get the best experience possible at the College. Your voice does make a difference through the various mechanisms of feedback available to you.

For example your Departmental Director of Postgraduate Studies has to respond formally to College in relation to issues identified through surveys such as PRES and will consult other members of your department’s Postgraduate Office and academic staff within the department in preparing their response.
