Graduation Day Roles
There is a lot happening across campus on an Imperial College Graduation Day, and support will be required in a number of areas.
Confirmation of role allocations will be communicated in September, with all volunteers fully briefed ahead of the day.
Whether you can offer your time for a full day or just a few hours - we would love to hear from you!
If you have previously volunteered at a graduation or there is a particular area that you would like to help with - please do let us know when you complete the volunteer registration portal and we will accomodate this where we can.
Graduation Day roles:
Directing graduands and guests across campus
Many of the graduands and guests attending graduation day will not have visited the South Kensington Campus before. We will need as many as possible across the day to welcome graduands and guests to Imperial College London, helping them to navigate their way to graduation activities on campus and the Royal Albert Hall.
All volunteers will be equipped with a volunteer guide, including all details of what is happening on the day and a campus map.
Registration and information desks
There will be four registration blocks for the corresponding ceremonies.
We will need a small number of people to assist our team with on-the-day ticket and general enquiries, at registration and our information desks.
Academic registration and gowning
Working directly with academics involved in the ceremony, assistance will be required at academic check-in and ticket collection.
Our official academic dress provider, Ede & Ravenscroft will oversee the majority of the gown collection and dressing process but volunteers may also be required to support them.
Departmental receptions
Departmental receptions take place in various location across campus and last approximately 90 minutes, consisting of drinks and light refreshments. A large pool of volunteers will be needed to assist guests, graduands and Imperial staff in attendance.
The full list of venues will be confirmed one month before Commemoration Day taking place on Wednesday 18 October 2023.
Programming in the Royal Albert Hall
Graduation programmes and guest booklets will be available in the Royal Albert Hall prior to each ceremony and help will be required to distribute these in the venue.
Programmers will then assist on Prince Consort Road to welcome graduands and guests to the Hall, so that they are seated in good time ahead of the ceremonies.
