It is reserved for uses that promote the heritage and history of the College, such as regalia, degree certificates, invitations to formal College events and official sports team clothing and merchandise.

For all other materials, you should use the Imperial College London logo.

Updating the Imperial crest

As of 2020, we have updated our crest to no longer include the motto. It will not be used on any new materials. This change has been made to better reflect our culture and values today and our commitment to support a diverse and inclusive community.

How to request permission to use the Imperial crest

All uses of the crest must be approved by Communications and Public Affairs. To request permission to use the crest, please send details of the materials you would like to produce to the Style Guide team.

The crest is restricted to a limited number of uses. The crest should not be used to identify Imperial today and cannot be used on materials such as signage, publications, theses, websites,  stationery or presentations. For these materials, you should use the College logo.

Student societies are not permitted to use the College crest on promotional materials or branded clothing, with the exception of official sports team clothing. Societies are welcome to use the College logo.

Sports teams must request permission to use the crest. Please send details of the materials you would like to produce to the Style Guide team.
