Along with our logo and colour palette, our typeface helps create cohesion between multiple communication tools. We have specified fonts for different applications. These have been selected to support our visual identity. In addition they are fully compliant with the Equality Act 2010 guidelines for readability. The Equality Act 2010 came into effect in October 2010.

Our corporate typeface

Our corporate typeface is Meta—a modern, distinctive and versatile font that communicates with confidence and authority (n.b. if you are working in Word or email, or unable to purchase Meta, please see the section below, 'Using other fonts').

A variety of weights and styles of Meta allow for scope and creativity in application. Use of the following weights is permitted:

  • Normal
  • Normal Italic
  • Medium
  • Medium Italic
  • Bold
  • Bold Italic

NOTE: please do not use Meta Thin, Light or Black.

Where it is not possible to use Meta, the typeface to be used is Arial.

This may include electronic applications and programmes (such as PowerPoint presentations and Word documents)

Emails should be sent in either Arial or plain text.

Other fonts should only be used in specific applications where the use of Arial is not possible or appropriate (e.g. mathematical formulas).

Meta needs to be purchased under licence. Members of College staff that require Meta should email the Style Guide for advice on how to purchase a licence. Meta is now available through Adobe Fonts so users with an Adobe Creative Cloud licence can access Meta through Adobe Fonts without the need to purchase a Meta licence. Some printers and designers may have the font available.
