Who should attend?

New and experienced staff who would like to review and develop their teaching practice and presentation style.

This workshop offers an opportunity to design and deliver a short (ten-minute) ‘microteaching’ session and receive constructive feedback from your peers. In this context, your peers will be people with a teaching role at Imperial who will also be presenting during the workshop. The aim of the workshop is for you to consider and evaluate your own practice and learn from the practice of others in a supportive environment. You might choose to attend this workshop to review and receive feedback on a sample of your existing teaching, a session that you are teaching in the near future, or a presentation you are giving to a non-specialist audience.

Your own session will be filmed so you have the opportunity to re-watch it at a later date.

Prior to the workshop participants will need to spend some time planning their microteaching session. When you sign up for the workshop you will be given access to a range of online materials that will help with your preparation. You will be required to submit a draft session plan and any presentation materials one week before the workshop and will receive some feedback on these from the tutor. If you do not submit a session plan by the deadline, you will not be able to attend the workshop.

It is recommended that participants have:

• attended Introduction to teaching for learning or a similar faculty-based workshop; or
• previous experience of planning a lecture or teaching session

Due to the nature of the workshop having pre-requisite tasks enrolment onto this workshop ends two weeks before the workshop date.
