Choosing an option

During the Option Course in the Spring Term (January-March) students complete their selected option based on their decision at application. A strong case study approach is employed with emphasis on working in teams, decision-making, strong analytical skills and report preparation. Integrated Water Management (IWM)

The Integrated Water Management (IWM) option explores the sustainable management of water resources across urban and rural environments. Students learn to analyse and address complex water challenges through scientific, technical, and policy-based approaches.

Business and the Environment (B&E)

The Business and the Environment (B&E) option equips students with the knowledge and skills to drive sustainable business transformation, developing innovative solutions that go beyond traditional approaches to sustainability.

Environmental Assessment and Management (EAM)

The Environmental Assessment and Management (EAM) option trains students to evaluate and manage environmental risks using quantitative assessment methods, preparing them for careers in consultancy, regulation and environmental management.

Environmental Economics and Policy (EE&P)

The Environmental Economics and Policy (EE&P) option provides students with the tools to analyse and design effective environmental policies, applying economic principles to address global challenges such as climate change and resource management.

Energy Policy (EP)

The Energy Policy (EP) option develops expertise in the technical, economic and policy dimensions of energy systems, preparing students to shape sustainable energy solutions in industry, government, and research.

Environmental Resource Management (ERM)

The Environmental Resource Management (ERM) option focuses on the sustainable use and conservation of natural resources, equipping students to develop strategies that balance environmental, social and economic priorities.

Global Environmental Change and Policy (GECP)

The Global Environmental Change and Policy option examines the drivers and impacts of global environmental change, preparing students to develop and influence policies that promote sustainability and resilience worldwide.

Urban Sustainable Environments (USE)

The Urban Sustainable Environments (USE) option explores how cities can become healthier, more resilient, and sustainable, equipping students to design and implement solutions for the complex challenges of urban living.
