student staff member What is SOLE?

Student evaluations of undergraduate lecture modules and laboratory modules are organised by the College centrally using the Student On-Line Evaluation system (SOLE). Both numerical and textual feedback is captured during a 2 week period at the end of each term.

Why should I complete SOLE?

A message from Prof. Don Craig, your Director of Undergraduate Studies:

The Department takes the views of our students seriously and one of the ways in which we gather student opinion on our courses is through SOLE, our online survey tool. Each lecture and lab course questionnaire opens for about two weeks at the end of each term. All data is read by the DUGS and disseminated to course organisers, lab coordinators and staff lecturing on the course. Student views play an important role in the development of our courses; lecturers will respond to feedback on their course and use it to help shape their programmes. By completing SOLE you are actively participating in departmental life and in particular in the process of reflection and development of courses which supports your and subsequent students’ undergraduate degree experience.
