Low cost, green energy technologies

Resilient, affordable, low-carbon technologies
Building low cost, green energy technologies requires detailed understanding of molecular and material behaviour to deliver energy solutions at the global scale. These technologies must be resilient and affordable to consumers, and also efficient to manufacture.
Imperial researchers who have chosen to become IMSE Affiliates are working on concepts including:
- developing new batteries which use cheaper materials, including upcycled waste,
- new photovoltaic, photoelectrochemial and photocatalytic materials,
- new porous materials for chemical separations,
- modelling approaches for new materials discovery,
- metabolic engineering to energy and therapeutics production.
