NIHR Funding opportunities - CFL Fellowship

NIHR are pleased to announce that the latest funding opportunities for the new Clinical Future Leaders Fellowship (CFLF) is now open!

The Clinical FLF is a coordinated cross funder initiative with MRC, CRUK and BHF in response to recent OSCHR reports that included recommendations to provide clearer career pathways and more tenured positions for clinical academics.

It is a postdoctoral level opportunity, supporting awardees to undertake research and training & leadership programmes

Longer working lives: exploring rising state pension age on health and wellbeing inequalities in later life

The UK State Pension Age has risen to 66 and is set to increase further in the coming year(s). These rises have the potential to have significant implications for the health, wellbeing, and financial security of specific population groups – including those in low wage and manual jobs, unpaid carers, and people living in disadvantaged areas. We undertook an international evidence review and analysed survey data to better understand these impacts, and how they might differ by sex, ethnicity and geography. We tested our findings through a stakeholder roundtable, to support recommendations for future policy on ageing, work and inequalities.

NIHR post-doctoral event - Thriving in Transition

NIHR are currently planning the third NIHR career development event for post-doctoral researchers titled “Thriving in Transition”. The hybrid event will be held between 10am and 4.00pm on Thursday 29th January in Central Manchester/online and will build on the first event held in 2025. The event will cover:
• A panel talking about navigating transition
• Breakouts covering research identity and visibility
• Talks on transitioning knowledge to change
• The chance to meet and network with others at a similar career stage

Planned by a group at this career stage, the day-long hybrid conference will support post-doctoral researchers from all fields of health and social care research to successfully navigate this pivotal, and sometimes challenging, stage of their career.
