Research

We aim to tackle current unmet needs in cancer by developing the next generation of technologies, methodologies and therapies that will improve the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. By taking a multidisciplinary approach we can bring together different research disciplines to create new, innovate ideas and accelerate the progress of new technologies to clinical implementation.

Reflecting the breadth and scope of cancer research across all four faculties at Imperial, we have developed two braod research themes:

Reducing the burden of cancer through prevention and screening
Increasing the precision of cancer care

Investigating how to reduce the risk of developing cancer in the first place, and how we can detect and diagnose cancer earlier

Increasing the precision of cancer treatment

Improving cancer therapies, our research focus on the biology of cancer, and the development of new and better cancer treatments

Supporting translational research

The Imperial Centre aims to facilitate cancer research by providing access to useful resources, through guiding researchers around study design and grant applications, by facilitating collaborations and idea generation, as well as through clinical trials support
