Dr James Kinross

Theme 1 Lead: Reducing the Burden of Cancer

James Kinross is a consultant colorectal surgeon at St. Mary's Hospital London. His clinical interests are in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of colorectal cancer. He also has an interest in surgical nutrition and modulation of the gut microbiota by pro and prebiotics for improved operative outcomes.

Professor Zoltan Takats

Theme 1 Lead: Reducing the Burden of Cancer

Zoltan Takats has pursued pioneering research in mass spectrometry and he is one of the founders of the field of ‘Ambient Mass Spectrometry’. He is the primary inventor of six mass spectrometric ionization techniques and was the recipient of the prestigious Mattauch-Herzog Award of the German Mass Spectrometry Society and the Hungarian Star Award for Outstanding Innovators.

Professor Daniel Elson

Theme 2 Lead: Increasing the Precision of Cancer Treatments

Daniel Elson is a Professor of Surgical Imaging and Biophotonics in the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Institute of Global Health Innovation and Department of Surgery and Cancer at St. Mary's Hospital. Research interests are based around the development and application of photonics technology to medical imaging.

Mr Daniel Leff

Theme 2 Lead: Increasing the Precision of Cancer Treatments

Daniel Leff is currently a Reader in Breast Surgery working in the Departments of BioSurgery and Surgical Technology and Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery at Imperial College London. He is an Honorary Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery working within the Breast Unit at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Professor Eric Aboagye

Eric Aboagye is Professor of Cancer Pharmacology & Molecular Imaging and Director of the CRUK-EPSRC-MRC-NIHR Comprehensive Cancer Imaging Centre. He is also the Scientific Director of the ECMC. His group is interested in the discovery and development of new methods for experimental and clinical cancer molecular imaging.

Professor Charlotte Bevan

Charlotte Bevan is Professor of Cancer Biology and Deputy Head of the Division of Cancer within the Department of Surgery and Cancer. She is also the Head of Training for the CRUK Imperial Centre and is a leading expert in Prostate Cancer Biology.

Ms Kelly Gleason

Co-Lead Patient and Public Involvement Engagement

Kelly Gleason is the CRUK Senior Research Nurse at Imperial College London. She manages the translational research team working in our hospitals, provides education and training for the research delivery teams, and coordinates the Patient and Pubic Involvement Group and activities.

Dr Matthew Williams

Co-lead Patient and Public Involvement Engagement

Matthew Williams leads the Computational Oncology group at Imperial College, based jointly between the Dept. of Computing and Division of Surgery & Cancer. Clinically, I deliver radiotherapy and chemotherapy to patient with brain and spinal tumours, based in Charring Cross hospital. His research interests include mathematical and computational approaches to clinical problems, including the use of machine learning, computational argumentation and the use of clinical 'big data'

Professor Mengxing Tang

Professor Mengxing Tang leads the Ultrasound Laboratory for Imaging and Sensing (ULIS) in the Department of Bioengineering. His current research mainly focuses on developing new imaging techniques of ultrahigh temporal and spatial resolution using ultrasound and signal processing, as well as developing new image analysis techniques. He is also co-director of the Imperial Cancer Technology network.

Professor Michael Seckl

Michael Seckl is a Professor of Molecular Cancer Medicine and is the Director of Post Graduate Studies for the Dept of Surgery and Cancer, as well as leads the Imperial Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. In the NHS, he is Director of the Charing Cross/ Imperial College Trophoblastic Disease and Malignant Ovarian Germ Cell Tumour (MOGCT) Centre and supraregional tumour marker assay service. Professor Seckl runs two research groups, one focused on resistance to therapies in lung cancer, the other on gestational trophoblastic disease.
