What did you most enjoy about your course?
The fantastic lecturers, that came with global examples and delivered topics with passion and insights. I came away from my lectures inspired and with practicel skills that I could apply to health policy responses both when doing deep dives on the NHS or analysis on policies abroad.
What did you most appreciate about studying at Imperial?
I loved the location of the South Kensington campus, it meant my classmates and I would take walks to Hyde Park or South Kensington to break-up the day. I also appreciated the large library, with the fantastic facilities available on campus. There was a market every Tuesday, which was really fun to explore during our lunch break. The history and art around the campus, as well as being next to the Natural History Museum, V&A, Royal Albert Hall (where we had graduation), were all inspiring and provided easy access to explore outside of lecture time.
I also appreciated the welcoming and supportive community, both with my peers and the course teachers and admin. I genuinely felt everyone wanted me to do well. My classmates and I would celebrate each milsetone in our course and I have remained friends with many of them.
What did you do after the course and how did it contribute to your success?
After I graduated from Imperial, I continued to work with my dissertation supervisor, Dr. Paul Sullivan. Paul encouraged me to submit my disseration to the Internation Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, where it was displayed in Gothenburg and I got to meet more Imperial Alumni. Paul and I then worked together on two research papers related to my dissertation topic, Social Network Analysis (SNA). My latest publication, for which I am the lead author is called 'Network approaches and interventions in healthcare settings: A systematic scoping review'.
The course helped me move into a more strategic role within Life Sciences, where I worked within Market Access Strategy. I was able to apply my learning from my Health Policy Masters and SNA to support several of the organisations I worked for to improve their outputs and won internal several awards.
What are you doing now?
I am now working as a Senior Partnership and Policy Manager for a Think Tank, focused on Health and Life Science policies. I am also an advisor to Medical Device and Pharmaceutical companies, where I provide advice on matters such as Scientific Affairs, Market Access, Social Network Analysis and Health Policy.
