Induction
Students who start during the academic year are referred to the slides below presented at the Annual Research Student Induction. They should also contact Hayley Kendall Berry (h.kendall@imperial.ac.uk), Research Degrees Manager, to arrange a personal research degree induction.

Health and Safety Induction
A health and safety induction should be done on your first day and will be delivered by your local lab manager. Please speak to your supervisor to arrange this.
ID card
- You should print off the letter from your eService account confirming your enrolment and take it to your local ID card office where you will be issued with an ID card.

Young Scientist Day
The Department of Medicine holds an annual Young Scientist Day which provides a unique opportunity to hear and see the range of research being undertaken across the Department.
Cohort building
The Department currently hosts approximately 320 (84% home/EU and 16% Overseas) Research Degree students, including basic scientists and clinicians, across six campus sites in five Divisions and 17 Sections, making it one of the largest research degree programmes in the College. We have therefore placed students into overlapping Sectional, Campus, Divisional and Departmental cohorts to ensure effective cohort building.
