Immune response to infection
Immune responses to infection are crucial in determining outcomes in patients in the development of new vaccines and host-directed therapies. There is a broad interest in this across the section.
Chris Chiu’s group focuses on the human immune response to respiratory viruses, such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Chris Chiu and Angela Bruggemann are particularly interested in vaccine research.
Professor Rosemary Boyton is Head of the Lung Immunology group. The mission of the Lung Immunology Group is to understand T lymphocyte and NK cell responses in infectious and allergic inflammation.
Pulmonary and CNS immunology are a major focus of the Tuberculosis Research group. Further information about the immune response to gram-positive infection is explored by the gram-positive molecular pathogenesis group.
