Ongoing Clinical Trials
Drawing on the strength of academic staff working in clinical practice, The Centre for Psychiatry is home to clinical research, including a number of clinical trials of investigative medicinal products and other therapeutic interventions. These trials span a range of the department’s interests including personality disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, treatment resistant schizophrenia, emotional and behavioural difficulties in early childhood, offender treatment and rehabilitation and behavioural changes following acquired brain injury (ABI).
We have also investigated the prevalence, characteristics, comorbidities and risks in offenders with neurodevelopmental conditions in prison and forensic mental health settings and formed strong collaborations with other universities to participate in clinical and quasi-experimental trials to evaluate treatment outcomes following medical and/or psychological interventions. There is an international collaboration in Denmark with the National Board of Social Services (Socialstyrelsen) and the Danish Prison and Probation Service, involving several municipalities across Denmark, to evaluate outcomes following group and individual psychological treatments for adults with ADHD. Furthermore, it is intended to establish predictors of treatment outcomes using national patient registry data.
