Manuel
MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

If you enjoy maths and using your hands to build something cool, or making or fixing things to solve a problem – you probably have the right mind-set for engineering. I couldn't decide between maths and physics, but engineering falls between the two, plus you get to do the fun stuff – creating real products people can use and you can be proud of, which is very rewarding.
The Imperial open day made a good impression and the interviewer asked by far the most interesting questions. The course is really challenging, with lots of hands-on work, so when you go on an internship or placement you actually get to apply what you’ve learned and realise how meaningful it is for your career development.
Manuel’s advice
Imperial is a very unique place, we’re all physicists or scientists or engineers. Embrace this ‘geekiness’ – it’s kind liberating that you don’t have to pretend that you don’t like maths because everybody likes it!
