Teaching facilities
We have a range of teaching and learning facilities in the Department:

- undergraduate computing laboratories - 110 PCs/Macs with specialised design and analysis software, and a further 160 for project and electrical laboratory use.
- personal laptops can be joined to the Imperial network via WiFi access throughout the building.
- our ICT systems and library provide access to a huge range of support information, technical literature, data sheets and textbooks.
- the main teaching laboratory has 40 experimental benches for first year students and 40 for second year.
- third and fourth year students have their own project laboratories for hardware and software implementations.
- a reading room for private study which is available in the evenings and at weekends.
- state-of-the-art specialised research facilities including microfabrication clean-rooms, and laboratories for robotics and image processing which may be used by students working on their final year projects.

Our newest facility is the Maurice Hancock Smart Energy Laboratory.
The research taking place in this £1.3 million specialist laboratory is helping us understand how smarter control and coordination will enable the energy systems of the future to match low-carbon energy generation to consumer need.
