Up to 13 full-time permanent faculty member positions at Lecturer / Assistant Professor level. Qualified candidates may also be appointed at the Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor level.

The faculty positions will be part of the College’s flagship I-X initiative, which is a new collaborative environment for research, education, and entrepreneurship across artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, statistics, and digital technologies.

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering welcomes applications for I-X academic posts in a range of areas where we seek to build on our existing strengths. These include applications of AI, Machine Learning (ML) and Data Science in domains including healthcare monitoring, critical infrastructure systems (such as power networks), wireless communications, and autonomous and embedded systems, as well as control and optimisation, computer architectures for ML, hardware accelerator design, cyber security, computer vision, and deep learning for signal processing.

We are recruiting for two permanent Lecturer / Senior Lecturer positions in the areas of Computer Engineering and Power System Transformation.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering

We are particularly interested in research which will complement, extend and build upon, our world-leading strength in FPGA technology. The appointee would be welcomed into a friendly and high-profile group of researchers with expertise in compilers, tools and architectures and with strong collaborations with other academic and industrial groups internationally as well as with the Department of Computing.

Leverhulme Lectureship in Power System Transformation

Applicants will be sought in the research area of control and operation of energy systems with very high penetration of variable renewable energy and inverter-based resources. Research addressing the evolving system dynamics, increasing dimensionality and increasing coupling between elements of the energy system using data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and distributed control is of particular interest.
