The effect of human behavioural characteristics on adoption of robotic partners

Abstract
Robotic training partners are being increasingly developed to substitute humans. Some people are more comfortable around robots than others (e.g., shy individuals). Other behavioural characteristics, such as personality traits, might also play a role. The limited research to date has relied on self-reports rather than observations of humans interacting with robotic partners. This multidisciplinary project will focus on observations of humans engaging with robotic partners and conducted in collaboration with roboticists from the Morph Lab. The project will increase the knowledge about the design features of robotic training partners most likely to be successfully implemented in work and educational settings.
