Data-driven design engineering for social good

Abstract
Different movements focus on leveraging data and analytics for social good (e.g., AI for Social Good -- AI4SG) to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Achieving sustainable impact with AI4SG is a challenge, especially in (fast) developing countries. Finding blueprints to translate existing solutions to new contexts is not straightforward. This collaborative project with CMU-Africa focuses on creating innovative digital solutions for East Africa (e.g., Rwanda and Kenya) through data-driven decision-making. A systematic holistic approach to AI4SG will be developed using human-centric design principles, to build scalable sustainable solutions for various application areas, e.g., health, agriculture, transport, and energy.
