Currently the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advises against travel to Sudan. For the most recent advice, please click here.

Security Assistance

FCDO are advising all British nationals in Sudan to  register your presence in Sudan. You will get regular messages from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. You will be asked to provide:

  • your name
  • your location in Sudan
  • your contact details
  • if the security environment allows, whether you would want to leave or remain in Sudan

FCDO advise that you complete this form even if you have already contacted with them by a different channel. If you cannot use this form, call +44 1908 516666.  If you are in the UK, call 020 7008 5000.

If you are a staff, student or guest travelling on Imperial business and currently in Sudan, please contact AIG by emailing aigstoc@aig.com or call +44(0)1273 456 463.

We ask all travellers affected to speak to their Head of Department and maintain regular dialogue with AIG should they have any queries.

Making a claim

For pre-booked college related travel, staff and students should contact their airline in the first instance to arrange a refund.  They can then submit a claim to insurers for any monies which has not been refunded.

If any staff and students are in Sudan and feel unsafe and wish to return to the UK early, insurers will cover additional travel costs incurred.

Please note: - If original return tickets were not already booked, then these costs cannot be claimed as it would have been expected the travellers would have to pay to return in any event.
