Intended Audience
Many of our staff (Medicine and widening to other faculties eg for Bioengineering and the Business School) make use of clinical data.
One area where a risk was identified is the use of College emails to transmit/receive patient information. College staff receive identifiable patient information across the College’s email system and as a consequence they are in need of some training and support to handle data safely and confidentially.
This e-learning course explores the concepts of confidentiality and data protection. This is a complex field, but the course aims to provide you with the framework and tools to interpret the requirements for research with confidence.
This module was developed by the MRC Regulatory Support Centre in consultation with the National Research Ethics Service, the Ethics and Confidentiality Committee and others.
