We have invited Imperial’s Careers’ Service to host some career-related workshops to support Careers@Imperial for staff. The Careers’ Service is a team of experts who mainly support students and alums with career-related activities.
The team creates and facilitates workshops and provides one-to-one support as part of their service. The Careers’ Service will share their expertise with staff via two workshops listed below.

Practical Career Workshops

CVs, Apply & selling your skills

When applying for a new opportunity, you'll need to sell your skills through your CV, an application form, a personal statement, or a cover letter. These documents can be difficult to write effectively to get the interest of the hiring manager and progress you to the next stage of the recruitment process.

At this session, we will:

  • Identify areas from your experiences that could be highlighted.
  • Understand how to read a job advertisement to help tailor your application.
  • Explore the basic structure and give you tips to make your CV more effective.
  • Review the basics of application form answers, cover letters and personal statements.

This session is run by the Careers Service, which provides career guidance and application support for our current students and recent graduates. This session has been tailored for staff looking at new opportunities within Imperial or externally.
