"Science and a career in academia are a long journey and not a sprint. Patience, perseverance and hard work are the best way to navigate them. Most things happen for a reason and whilst in the moment rejections or failures can be very painful, later on it becomes clear how they shape who we are and how we approach research. I admire many women scientists, but my role model has always been Marie Curie. Maybe this is a cliché, but her life and scientific journey showcase all of the above."
