"The incredible thing about working in STEM is that there’s always something to learn, to uncover.  It’s vital to remain optimistic and embrace every opportunity. Academia can be challenging, but the lessons you learn along the way will stay with you forever. With the right approach, every unsuccessful experiment is an opportunity to advance and grow. Sometimes your journey doesn’t go the way you intended, but it will lead you to where you should be.

"Everyone is comprised of many elements. I’m a scientist, a feminist, an activist and an educator. I feel empowered to promote equality in all aspects of my life. Having previously engaged in LGBT activism, gender equality and legislative reform, here I have the privilege to make an impact with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Athena SWAN.

"My advice is to be the change you wish to see in the world. Become the role model you wished you had. If you didn’t have the opportunity to do something, create it for those that come after you. Set people up for success, not failure. Sometimes, the most difficult skill to master is self-confidence. Inspire others to believe in their own capabilities, and anything is possible. Find pride in yourself and your work first, and the rest will follow."
