Lecturer in Orthopaedic Biomechanics, Department of Bioengineering

“I am a Lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering. My research field is biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system. By collaborating closely with clinicians, my research group focuses on improving and providing new tools for early diagnosis, assessment, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation, creating solutions for sufferers of upper limb injury and disability.

“Although I didn’t always realise it at the time, I have been fortunate to have amazing role models, both women and men, in a range of STEM subjects. They encouraged me to pursue my ambitions and to put myself forward for opportunities.

“If I were to offer one piece of advice it would be to be tenacious when all doesn’t go according to plan. Determine what you want, listen to yourself, and then be brave and make it happen.”
