Previous experience: Participants should possess some basic knowledge of Mongolian
This course is for those who have studied the Mongolian Cyrillic alphabet and attended a beginners' course of approximately 15-20 hours. The course aims to build on that foundation, expanding vocabulary and providing the tools with which to deal with a range of situations encountered in everyday life. The course will introduce essential grammar - such as inflectional suffixes, noun formation from verbs, and postpositions.
At the end of the course students should find that they have developed an increased confidence in their communication skills and have attained a deeper understanding of Mongolian culture and society.
Topics may include:
- Tourist sites in Mongolia
- Giving and asking for opinions
- Purchasing goods or services
- Booking a hotel
- Grocery shopping and ordering food
- Seeing a doctor
- Decimals and fractions
- Sports
Where applicable, textbook details will be provided by the tutor. Course textbooks need not be purchased before the first course session.
