This statement applies to content published on https://c19-react.imperial.ac.uk/.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Listen to most of the website using accessibility tools such as NVDA, JAWS 2020, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, iOS VoiceOver and macOS VoiceOver.
  • Resize to the size of your window, and display a readable text size whichever device you are using (meaning the display of all content is optimised for all screen sizes)
  • Zoom in up to 175% without the text spilling off the screen

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible the website is

Parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some pages and text have poor colour contrast
  • some heading elements are missing
  • some images do not have good alternative text
  • some messages are not interpreted by screen reading software
  • some pages do not allow full interaction with just a keyboard
  • some tab ordering is illogical
  • some labels are inconsistent
  • some form elements are not fully interactable with screen reading software
  • some ‘Skip To Main Content’ links are missing

What we do about known issues

We work to achieve and maintain WCAG 2.1 AA standards, but it is not always possible for all our content to be accessible. Where content is not accessible, we will state a reason, warn users and offer alternatives.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Imperial College London is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the known issues listed below.

Non accessible content

The content that is not accessible is outlined below with details of:

  • Users of the ‘Dragon Naturally Speaking’ software may find it does not recognise various elements on the booking and appointment pages using known commands
  • On the confirmation page the ‘Reschedule’ overlay cannot be interacted with using a keyboard.
  • Form controls the reschedule page have more than one associated label.
  • NVDA and MacOS VoiceOver are unable to select a time when rescheduling an appointment.

Some documents and content are exempt from the regulations (such as live video content and PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services), so we do not currently have any plans to make them accessible. But if you need to access information in one of these document types, you can contact us and ask for an alternative format.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some text does not meet the recommended contrast ratio across the site e.g. red text lacks contrast when compared to the background page. This fails requirement 1.4.3.

When resizing text, the step numbers render partially cut off on the complete appointment page. Also, the registration and consent section is partially cut off on the landing page. These fail requirement 1.4.4.

The popup error message on the landing page does not meet the recommended contrast ratio. This fails requirement 1.4.11.

The confirmation message displayed after rescheduling an appointment is not read to the user by a screen reader. This fails requirement 4.1.3.

Reporting accessibility issues

If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille or if you find any accessibility issues not listed on this page then please contact accessibility@imperial.ac.uk. We’ll consider your request and get back to you in a week.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
