Vaccine development and implementation represent a multi-disciplinary pipeline so that understanding of pathogen biology and immunology directs vaccine design, while delivery technology allows implementation with clinical trials accelerating licensing and further vaccine improvement. All these are supported by epidemiological and systems biology data, interpretation of which is critically dependent on advanced statistical and bioinformatic analysis.
