Patient and public involvement opportunities

What is "Friends of CR&T"?

We would are inviting people who have been affected by dementia, and memory and thinking difficulties to join our patient and public involvement activities at the UK Dementia Research Institute’s Care & Technology Centre.

Our centre’s research focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of people experiencing memory and thinking difficulties. We therefore think it is crucial for us to listen to the very people who live and work with this condition daily. By carrying out these activities we hope that your voices will remain at the heart of what we do, creating meaningful and human-centred research outcomes.  We would love you to join us and help shape the future of our work.

Who can participate?

We are looking to speak with anyone who feels they have experience of dementia. This might be someone with memory and thinking difficulties, a current or ex carer, a dementia or community nurse, a social care or healthcare professional, or even commissioners. Our criteria is not exclusive.

What’s involved?

You can choose which activities you want to be involved in. If you. You can express interest in as many or as few options as you like. Likely activities to be involved in are:

  • Attending participant and public engagement meetings at the centre 3 times a year (either physically or virtually).
  • Participating in focus groups and workshops to discuss our research design, project work and technology development. Reading and giving feedback on research materials (e.g., questionnaires, letters to patients, consents forms).
  • Reviewing high-level centre aims and discussing ethical questions relating to research.
