Information for prospective students

1+3 year PhD Programme in Quantum Engineering

The next cohort will start in October 2018.  The first year is spent on an MSc in Quantum Engineering (QE) followed by three years of research leading to a PhD. We offer a number of studentships towards the 1 + 3 PhD route.

Academic Requirements

Applicants to the doctoral training must hold at least a Bachelors degree in Engineering or a subject closely related to research in the hub such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science. The majority of successful applicant hold a Masters degree (MSci or MSc). The minimum degree requirement is 2.1 or its equivalent. 

The MSc component of the programme is an integral part of the doctoral training and provides a basis for the research undertaken in years 2 to 4. 

How do I Apply?

To apply for the 1+3 PhD training in Quantum Engineering, you must first make an application for the MSc. After you create account with Apply.Imperial, use the programme code F342 to find the MSc Quantum Engineering programme. There is no need to enter a proposed research topic or name of supervisor. 

When Should I apply?

The Admissions process for entry into the 1+3 PhD training in Quantum Engineering programme starting in October 2017 is now open.

Candidates will be required to attend an interview and will be contacted at least one week before the interview date. Offers will be made shortly after the interviews.
