Research objectives lie at the heart of the soils project. The over-riding aim of OPAL is to encourage and enthuse a new generation of environmentalists, thereby creating a greater awareness and appreviation of environmental pressures. Through this it was also hoped that more people would devote their research careers towards protecting and improving the natural environment. To this end, research students from the CEP have been actively involved with the project, including both MSc and PhD students.
