Dr Edward Rhodes

Eddy develops the translation of the lab technologies to neuromodulatory interventions for neurodegenerative disorders. His research combines non-invasive brain stimulation, neuroimaging such as fMRI, EEG recording, and cognitive and motoric behaviour assessment. Previously, Eddy completed a PhD in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Plymouth. During his PhD he investigated, using brain stimulation, the causal role of alpha and beta brain oscillations in the preparation and execution of voluntary actions. Prior to his PhD, Eddy completed an MSc in cognitive neuroscience at the University of York and a BSc in psychology at the University of Hull.

Dr Maria Garcia Garrido

Maria is a postdoctoral research associate in the ISN lab, where she is investigating a potential therapeutic treatment based on non-invasive deep brain stimulation, through temporal interference of electric fields, on an amyloid mouse model. Previously, she completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Granada and an MSc in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona. After briefly joining the Laboratory of Neurobiology at the University of Malaga, she completed a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Exeter, where she studied the neuronal correlates of spatial memory in a mouse model of dementia.

Dr Charlotte Luff

Charlotte recently completed her MRC-funded PhD in the ISN lab. Her interests lie in the brain phenomena underpinning the interventional strategies developed in the lab, and her research focuses on uncovering the biophysical mechanism of temporal interference brain stimulation, primarily using electrophysiology and computational modelling. During her PhD, Charlotte spent a year as a visiting PhD student in Professor Ed Boyden’s lab at MIT, where she was trained in automated in-vivo patch clamp. Previously, Charlotte completed a BSc in Biomedical Science at King’s College London, and an MRes in Experimental Neuroscience at Imperial College London. Outside of the lab, Charlotte will most likely be found outside in nature, where she enjoys hiking, canoeing, surfing and bouldering.
