AB - <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>An indacenodithieno[3,2b]thiophene (IDTT) unit is used as a linker moiety to design a new ptype dye—TIP—for solidstate ptype dyesensitized solar cells. Solar cells based on the TIP dye offered an efficiency of 0.18 % with an opencircuit photovoltage of 550mV and a shortcircuit photocurrent density of 0.86mA cm<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup>, which is better than those of two reference dyes, PB6 and BH4. Charge lifetime experiments reveal that the IDTT linkerbased TIP dye significantly suppresses charge recombination losses in the devices.</jats:p>
