Project title: Quantum Measurement and Control in Quantum Optomechanics
Supervisors: Michael Vanner
Project description:
This project will investigate the quantum optics of macroscopic mechanical oscillators using quantum optomechanics. Particular areas of interest include pulsed quantum measurement techniques, the generation and characterisation of non-classicality, and mechanical entanglement. Increasing our understanding of such quantum phenomena can be used for the development of future quantum technologies and for studies of the foundations of physics. This work will be performed at the interface between theory and experiment, where theory work will address and circumvent current experimental challenges.
